Teamspeak Tutorial
After consistently questions about TeamSpeak occured and from my point of view the tutorial on the mainpage is a way to short for first-time-useres i decided to write a detailed one. It comprehends the way from downloading to the main use of TeamSpeak. You will find many pictures in this tutorial so it should be very easy to understand. If there are still questions about the using of TeamSpeak just write a personal message to me.
Well then lets start.
1. Get TeamSpeak
For getting TeamSpeak just visit this link http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=downloads&archive=1 and download the "TeamSpeak 2 Client". After clicking on the download-button you will get to the "TeamSpeak End User License Agreement". Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on "I agree.".
We just use TeamSpeak 2 because this product is in our oppinion easyer to use and we don't want to change our server to the version 3. Maybe in future, if there is no support for the version 2 we will have a look for another solution.
2. Installation and StartUp
Start the downloaded setup by doing a double-click on it for starting the installation of TeamSpeak. I won't tell you now how to install it because the setup leads you through the installation. I think it should be understandable in the way it's explained.
3. Local addressbook/quick connect
First we take a look on the local addressbook. Start your TeamSpeak and go to "Connection -> Connect".
A window opens which consists of 2 tabs, the local addressbook and the web server list. We concentrate on the local addressbook. Right-click on "Servers" and go to "Add Server". Name the server however you want. I choosed the tag "-EDF-". After entering the name of the server an operating field will open on the right side. There you need to fill in the necessary information for joining the TeamSpeak-Server. The label should already been given. Enter the server address (edf-to-clan.de:8769) and choose your nickname. That's the name which will be shown to the other players/members on the TeamSpeak-Server. You can change it afterwards. On your first login on the server you have to mark the field "Anonymous" and enter the server password (lilipupu). If you want you can mark the field "Auto-Reconnect". It means that TeamSpeak will try to reconnect to the server if you once got disconnected in consequence of some inet-trouble. The 3 fields below we leave empty. Click on "Connect" and if you filled in the information right you will now be on the TeamSpeak-Server.
Another way to join the TeamSpeak-Server is the "Quick Connect". Start TeamSpeak and go to "Connection -> Quick Connect".
A window opens in which you got to fill in the server address, a nickname and the server password.
4. sound input/output settings
Go to "Settings -> Sound Input/Output Settings" to configure your voice activation. For many microphones it's set too high at the beginning so that noone will hear you. Just configure it, so that the green button starts to shine, while you are talking.
5. Register with server
Ask a Serveradmin to give you registration rights. When you got them just go "Self -> Register with Server". Choose a login name and a password. Once registered these information can only be changed by a serveradmin. Like you see, I choosed B2P as loginname and rofl as password (it's just an example, so the login as a registered member will be easier to understand).
After completing the registration you got to edit your local addressbook entry. Now you've got to mark the field "Registered". The operating field changes a bit. Enter the loginname with which you registered yourself with the server before and your passowrd. The server password won't be requested anylonger because as a registered member it's not necessary.
If you want to join the TeamSpeak-Server over the Quick Connect ("Connection -> Quick Connect") you've got to change the entries this way:
